Newsletter, Term 3, Wk 1

Hello / Kia Ora

Term 3 dates
Welcome back to school everyone. This term has 10 weeks and ends on Friday 26th September.

School Holiday break-ins.
At the beginning of the second week of the holidays, our school was broken into by children no longer enrolled at Coroglen School.
All have been spoken to and families notified. They will be doing work around the school and reimbursing any expenses.  All concerned have consequences for their actions and we are working through what these will be.

Supervision after school hours
If your children are at school after school hours, weekends or school holidays, please make sure they are supervised at all times.

Pet Day
Reminder Pet Day is on Saturday 18th October. Children need to be thinking about their pet, and beginning their diaries which will need to be worked on at home.

Water bottles
Children in the junior room are reminded to bring their water bottles to school to keep them hydrated so they can concentrate on their school work.

Home play Challenge
This involves activities at home and nutrition advice for lunch boxes. The children have a booklet which is filled out at school after the completion of their tasks. Please ask your children about this fun way to keep active. We are also keeping active with skipping to build fitness for the cross country which is on Tuesday 12th August. We are able to take the children for a trial run prior to the event. Watch this space.

Thank You Douglas of your kind offer to cut kindling so we can start our fires in the class rooms. We will be in touch.

Senior Camp
Advance Warning: We are planning a trip over to the Waitomo district to explore the caves and surrounding area. Some of the older children may have the chance to black water raft. I am waiting to hear back from the education officer with details of charges and available activities. There will be a cost involved. I will let you know as soon as I have the information about activities and costs involved.

Jack Frost visited
Jack Frost visited the school last night, and left behind a thick layer of ice. Riley-Jean and Caitlyn collected a pile of this ice from the slide in the school playground, patted it into a ball, and put it in the freezer.

I hope you had a wonderful holiday with your children. They have come back ready to learn.

Kind regards

Penny and the Team

Newsletter, Term 2, Wk 9

Hello / Kia Ora

End of term 2
Term 2 ends tomorrow. The school will re-open on Monday 21st July for term 3.

Winter Sports
The Winter Sports day went ahead last week with the weather co-operating. We had a fantastic turn out of children with great results.
The junior team came first, and the senior team was second equal, well done!

School Attendance Information & Tips
I have attached an introduction to Coral Clark who is our new attendance service advisor for this area. Please read this pamphlet, as it has some useful information.

Volunteer required

We are looking for someone who is able to come down to the school and chop some of our wood up for kindling. We urgently need this to be done for next term as we very low.

Coroglen School would like to thank the following people for all the wonderful things they are doing around our school.
Colin Martin – Thanks for building the court barrier so we can play Court Hockey. The children are stoked…
Jorma Lee – Thank you for cleaning up the damaged trees around our school. It looks much tidier…
Jed Harper – Thanks for fixing the damage to the roof on our veranda and swimming pool shelter caused by the recent winds. Now we can stay dry…
Jessie Lockhart – A big thank you for clearing the dead sunflowers from the front garden before Ngaire replanted it, and for repairing the broken desk.

With the nationwide discussion about changing the NZ flag recently our children have been working on designs of their own.

Enjoy your holidays
