Newsletter, Term 4, Wk 2

Hello / Kia Ora

Pet Day
Thank you to all the parents who turned up on Pet Day and helped with the stalls and activities. We were fortunate to have a wonderful relaxed day with no runaway pets on the loose.  The children’s performance was lovely - thank you to our music mentors, Justine and Jenny.
Pet Day would not happen without the people in our community – thank you all!
Pet Day raised $2,375 through Cake Walk, BBQ, Candy Floss & Toffee Apples, Stallholders and all the Activities.
Thank you to our sponsors AgriSea, ANZ, RD1 Ltd and Fonterra. Thanks also to Countdown, Peninsula Homekills, Leighton Howarth O’Connor, New World, Stephenson’s Pharmacy, Des Bristow, Blackjack Surf, Bayside Takeaways, Subway, Civic Video, and Placemakers for the prizes. A big thank you to our judges- Mrs Charmaine Clow, Miss Jenny Upsall, Mrs Birgitta Brink and Mr Howard Saunders plus our wonderful parents who made it all possible.

Coroglen-Whenuakite Athletics Sports
This will be on Wednesday 12th November with postponement date being Thursday 13th November at Whenuakite School starting at 10am. A transport slip will come home closer to Athletics Day.
Children have begun training for this. Please make sure they come to school with the appropriate training gear over the next few weeks. Shorts or leggings will be an advantage especially when practicing the high jump and long jump.

Jump Rope 4 Heart
Final reminder that all forms are to be returned filled in or blank.

Labour Weekend
The school will be closed next Monday 27th October due to Labour Day.

Mercury Bay Performance
Our children have been practicing every minute they can to prepare for the performance at the Mercury Bay Club. There will be a run through at the fishing club on Thursday the 13th of November and dress rehearsal is on Sunday 16th November. Performance dates are Thursday 20th, Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd November. Please fill in and return the slip indicating support and participation. We are first up so children can go home after their performance. They are however welcome to stay and watch all the other acts on an evening of your choice.

Senior Room Camp
We are planning to take our senior class to Waitomo for camp this year. This is shaping up to be a great camp which will challenge and delight the participants. We will be doing caving, abseiling and problem solving. There will also be opportunities to look for fossils, explore some unspoiled native bush and much, much more. I am waiting for confirmation but we plan to stay at Waitomo Top Ten  Holiday Park for two nights and some students may be sleeping in tents to reduce the costs.

Have a fabulous week,
Penny and the Team
