Visit from Jen's Hahei Ukulele Group

Last Tuesday musical melodies were floating from the senior room in a musical exchange between the senior students and Jenny Upsall's visiting Hahei Ukulele Group. The Ukulele Group were impressed with the children's performance and keen to let them try out the different types of ukulele's including an amped base ukulele. These picture were generously sent by Sue Dorrington of the Hahei Group.

Fundraising Committee
There will be a Fundraising Committee meeting coming up to finalise the accounts before the end of the year. We are also looking for more parents who are interested in coming on board to help with the fundraising we do through the year. Our children are the ones who benefit from the funds raised. The date for the next meeting will be in next week’s newsletter.

Thames Valley Athletics
Well done to Moana Manukau who competed in Te Aroha on Monday. Moana came third in the 800m with a time of 3.0376 minutes and second in the 1500m with a time of 6.17.29 minutes. Moana will be competing in the Waikato Primary Athletics on Friday – Best of Luck Moana.

Swimming Pool Keys
Pool keys cost $50 per season and can be purchased from the school office. This is an increase on past years to cover our costs of running the pool over the school holidays and to have a new lock for the gate and keys cut. On returning your key at the end of the season, a refund of $10 will be given. All children under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult as per school policy.

Sausage Sizzle Fundraiser for Kyla
BIG thumbs up to the Coroglen School Fundraising Committee who raised $752 at the athletics day sausage sizzle recently, and donated it all to the Ngarimu family to help ease the cost of travel and expenses while Kyla is in Starship Hospital. You all ROCK!!!

We still have a lot of school T-shirts to be returned. Please get them back to the school as soon as you can.

School Picnic
We will be having our Picnic Day on Tuesday 15th December at The 309 Waterhole meeting at 10am. It is situated 2.5 kms up The 309 Rd on the left hand side and has ample parking and public toilets. Please bring plenty of food and drinks as there are no shops to buy refreshments. It is a nice and safe spot for the little kiddies with grass and plenty of shade. There is also a spot for the bigger kids to play. All children must be supervised.

Congratulations to Moana Manukau and Jerome Melde who have both qualified for the Thames Valley meet on Monday 23rd of November.

School Touch
Over the next two Fridays Sport Waikato will be running Touch sessions for the junior and senior children. Children will need to make sure they wear appropriate clothing for touch i.e. shorts.

Swimming Pool

Thanks to Jessie Lockhart for getting the swimming pool ready for use. The children can now start to bring their swimming togs and towels to school. It is also a good idea to make sure all items of clothing are labelled with your child’s name. Any keys still outstanding from last season need to be checked off so please return these to school.

BOT meeting
Next BOT meeting will be Monday the 30th of November in the staff room at 3.15pm. All welcome.

Last day of Term 4
We have allowed the two days Coroglen School was closed due to civil defence and water issues during the year as open days.  On both of these occasions the school was staffed for children arriving at school. Therefore our last day of term 4 is now Tuesday 15th December.

Newsletter, Term 4, Wk 4

Hello / Kia Ora

Senior Rotorua Trip
Some families have changed their plans about their commitment to camp. We are asking parents to once again please confirm whether they and their child/ren will be attending the Rotorua camp on 23rd to 26th November 2015. Please fill in the slip at the end of this newsletter and return it to school no later than Friday. Our final confirmation of bookings will be based on these slips. The cost for students is $175.50. The cost for adults is $470.50. Adults who are transporting others during the trip will have their costs discounted by their accommodation costs of $105 to $365.50.

Thames Valley Athletics
Our camp is on the same day as the Thames Valley event. In fairness to other athletes who are available to attend the Thames Valley event we have decided not to send competitors to the Peninsula meet, although any senior students not attending camp may go if they reach the standards tomorrow. The Peninsula event is on the same day as our ukulele visit. At this time of the year the calendar does become crowded and clashes are inevitable.

Stationery Accounts
We have attached your stationery accounts. Please send payment to the school as soon as possible.

Lawns Fees
Your lawns fees are also due. $30 per child or $60 for two or more children. Thank you to those families who have already paid their lawns fees.
