Newsletter, Term 4, Week 8

Hello and Kia ora tatou.

Junior Farm visit Thanks to all the parents and grandparents who helped on the junior’s farm visit & beach fun day yesterday. Special thanks to Ashlee, Kali and Steve for making the farm and Banana Boat available to us. These days outside the classroom are an important opportunity for children to develop social and behavioral skills, and to have new experiences (like milking a cow, trying the milk and making our own butter!).

Stationery Accounts and Environment Donation

Thank you to those families who have paid these. Lawns fees are set at $30 per
student, maximum $60 per family.

Lucky Book Club

We’ll need the kids at Lions Park, Taylors Mistake car park area by 11:30am Saturday 3rd of December.(This Saturday!)
We will be using the Coroglen Tavern Truck and maybe the red ute. If you haven’t already done so please complete the slip at the end of this newsletter so we know how many seats we need.

Senior Room Camp - Monday to Wednesday 5th-7th December.
Thanks to Dave Warwood who helped Jenny Upsall and Katarina Lee man the BBQ last Sunday at the Coroglen Farmers Market. Help from Seth and Ben was also appreciated. They made $100 which will be given to the drivers for petrol money.
If any other parents are able to run the BBQ again this Sunday, please let Jenny know. She is able to help with the setup but cannot stay as she is working on the end of year reports.

Thank you to all the parents who have offered to provide transport to Waihi on Monday. We have enough vehicles to get us there and back. Children will need to be at school by 7.30am (8.45am at the latest) on Monday as we need to be in Waihi by 10am for the Surf Lifesaving Beach Education session.

Cost of camp is $35 per child. A gear list will come home at the end of the week. Children can start bringing some of their sleeping gear to school this Friday. This will be stored in the classroom over the weekend.

Friday Awards

Congratulations to Marika and Whenua, who received self-management awards; and Whenua and Samantha for achievement in Mathematics.
Fantastic effort girls!

The Juniors have been invited to the annual Walk Thru Christmas on Monday 5th December beginning at 11:30 at the Crossroads Church (opp New World), on to St Patrick’s in Campbell Street, and then ending at St Andrew’s at 12:30, with the usual drinks and bikkies. The programme this year will be centred on the theme ‘Happy Birthday Jesus’, with songs, stories and pictures around the Nativity story. We will leave the school at 11am. Leavers Evening
Leavers Evening is on Friday 16th December from 6.30pm in the school library. We have presentations to make for our Year 8 leavers and to Miss Anderson as well as the usual achievement awards. The children are rehearsing musical items to perform. Please bring a plate of finger food for a shared supper afterwards.

Attendance
At this time of year we are busy completing assessments and reports, which the BoT and staff will use for the strategic planning for next year. Please ensure your children are at school every day unless they are unwell. Coral has returned with some more gifts to help us remember why we come to school. I hope you have enjoyed sharing your children’s dreams.
