Newsletter, Term 1, Week 2

Hello and Kia ora tatou.

Community BBQ
We would like to invite all of our friends and families to a BBQ after school this Friday 10th February. The pool will be open (please supervise your own children) and we can wheel out the BBQ for a bit of early supper. This will be a chance to catch up, meet new people and find out a bit more about the changes at school and plans for the year.

Country Swimming Sports Y4-Y8
Country Swimming Sports is on Wednesday 22nd February at MBAS. More details will come home as we get closer to the date, but please keep this date in mind as we will need help with transport and supervision.
Please remember that swimming is an important part of our Health and PE curriculum and all students are required to participate, unless they have a note from their parent giving the reason for their exclusion.

Lawns Fees
Thank you to those families who have already paid their lawns fees for this year. This is normally paid at the beginning of each year. We still have a few families who need to pay their lawns fees for 2016. $30 per child, max $60 per family (2 or more children). Payments can also be internet banked into our account

Lucky Book Club
Thank you to those families who have returned the lucky book orders. If you forgot to do this, please send you order in tomorrow.

Overdue Library Books
We have had a few library books returned however there are still quite a few outstanding. Could these please be returned asap.

Coroglen Horse Trek
We have a date for our annual horse trek fundraiser! Put it in your calendar…Saturday 25th March. We have been running this fundraiser for a number of years now and it runs smoothly with minimal help from parents. We do however need your help with the lunch. Each year we put on a massive spread for the riders and will be asking families once again to help by preparing a dish and dropping it off on the day. More info will come home closer to the horse trek.

BOT Vacancy
With the departure of Fiona Cocker recently we now have a vacancy in the BoT. If you are interested in joining our board please speak to any of our board members Seba Illingworth, Michelle Harper, Hazel Sims, Kylie Willigers Jessie Lockhart or Jean Saunders with any questions.
At their first meeting the board will be making a decision whether a bi-election will be necessary or if they can co-opt a new member.

Bus Wardens
Last Friday we had a visit from Constable Catherine Sell who came to school to take the bus warden training for the children who catch the school bus.
She went over the rules for travelling on the bus for the whole school. Now that everyone is back at school seats will be allocated from today onwards.

This year our bus wardens are Riley-Jean Macdonald, Seth Willigers and Hayley Winstone.

Friday Assembly Awards
We had a great start to the year last week and the teachers had no trouble in finding students deserving award certificates.

Congratulations to Dakota, Ashlee and Farai for effort in writing, and to Hinekirunga and Ridge for showing consideration and a caring and sharing attitude.

Juicies
Juicies are available from the school for $1. All money made from the juices will be put towards school camp for both classes.

Contact numbers
Unfortunately we had a nasty accident this morning when a child fell and injured his teeth and mouth. Please ensure your emergency contact details are up to date. We will always try to contact a parent first but if you cannot be reached we need 2 more friends or family members, who could collect your child if necessary.
Have a good week, from Jean and the team.
With special thanks to our sponsors:
