Newsletter, Term 1, Wk 11

Hello and Kia ora tatou.

On advice from Civil Defence, TCDC and MOE, Coroglen School will be closed tomorrow due to predicted extreme weather conditions. School will resume on Monday 1st May 2017. Term two is a 10 week term and will end on Friday 7th July 2017.

Homework
A selection of familiar books will be sent home with the junior children to keep reading over the school holidays. It is very important that they continue reading every day.
The Seniors are also encouraged to read for enjoyment and interest, be it a novel, magazine, news item or instruction manual.

New Technology in our School
We have been advised that our funding application to Pub Charities has been accepted. This funding will provide necessary resources so that teachers can effectively integrate technology in their lesson design and create a student-directed classroom. This is very exciting for us and will impact the learning of everyone involved at our school – students and teachers alike.

St John colouring in competition
Most of the children entered the St John colouring in competition held by Michelle and Jed at the Coroglen Tavern as part of their fundraiser for the ambulance service and to provide a defibrilator. A small donation would be appreciated, but is not compulsory. The lucky competition winner was Marama Illingworth, who will be able to enjoy a meal at the Tavern with her family.

Friday Assembly
We have had so many students completing a variety of projects and pieces of work that we have had a sharing assembly each afternoon this week. It is wonderful to see the standard of work and the pride the children show in their accomplishments.
