Newsletter, Term 2, Wk 8

Hello / Kia Ora

Ki-o-Rahi Tournament
Thank you Gemma Richards for transporting and help supervising our children at the Ki-o-Rahi tournament in Thames last week. We performed well in our first season of Ki-o-Rahi against schools who have been playing this sport for a while winning two games, and losing two games.  Well done!

Pet Day date change
Just a reminder that Pet Day will now be in Term 4 on Saturday 18th October. Each spring our children bring their pet animals to Pet Day. Ribbons and prizes are awarded for rearing and leading farm animals (lambs, calves and kids), for other pets, for pet projects and a cup is presented for the ‘Most Obvious Pet”. We also hold the traditional cake stall and sausage sizzle. This is a day enjoyed by the whole community.

Nits
We have had another outbreak with nits in our school. Please make sure you check you child/rens hair regularly and through the school holidays. If you do find eggs or nits, please keep your child at home until they have been treated.

End of term 2
Term 2 ends next Friday 4th July. The school will re-open on Monday 21st July for term 3.

New Front Garden

Thank you to Ngaire Dunn for volunteering to clean up our front garden and re planting it with a mix of flax and shrubs kindly donated to our school by Jamie and Emma at MB Garden Centre. The garden looks great!

Visit from Ruben
Last Wednesday Gillian and Ruben the Road Safety Bear visited our school to show the children some road safety rules. Pictured is Ruben showing the junior class how to use a pedestrian crossing safely.

Winter Sports - tomorrow
We will be having Winter Sports tomorrow at Whenuakite School.  If it is postponed in the morning, it will be announced on CFM. We still require some transport to get all the children there. If you are able to help out, please phone the school by 9am to let us know. Parents providing transport will need to be at Coroglen School by 9.30am, as we need to be assembled by 10am at Whenuakite School. Don’t forget to bring lunch and drinks to keep your energy levels up.

Farewell

This week we farewell Taylah Mathews, who is moving back to Whakamaru. We will all miss you Taylah and wish you well.

Junior Hockey practice
Jamie Stones from KiwiSport visited today to give the children another session in Court Hockey. Pictured are the juniors getting use to stopping and starting with the ball.

Have a fabulous week

Penny and the Team
