Newsletter, Term 3, Week 3

Hello and Kia ora tatou.

Cross Country
The children continue to work well on their running training in preparation for the cross country at Whenuakite next week: Tuesday 16h August. Races will take place from 11am to about 12.30pm We will issue school t-shirts on the morning before leaving, children will need a warm change of clothes for after their run. Parents are welcome to come and support the children and of course we will need help with transport. If you can come, please complete the slip at the end of the newsletter and return. We walk the course soon after 11am and races should start before 11.30am. Races are over by 1pm.

Parent Teacher Interviews
Nearly all of our families have met, or will meet, with the teachers to discuss students’ progress and achievements. The reports from these meetings have been very positive and we hope whanau have found them worthwhile. If you have not made an appointment yet there are still a few time slots left tomorrow between 4:40pm and 6:00pm. Or teachers could meet with you next week after the cross country on Tuesday.
Return the slip at the end of the newsletter or phone/e-mail the school to arrange a time.

Thank you for your support.

Abacus fundraising Cards and Calendars
We will be doing artwork for these this term – look out for the display at the concert and on Pet Day. We also have a few packs of cards left over from previous years; available at school at bargain prices.

Bridge Hold-up Fundraisng
If you would like to be a bandit on the bridge this year (Scallop Fest Weekend 9th September) or if you can help with Pet Day, contact Jessie Lockhart for details.

Meeting Requirements and Needs
The MOE requires our school to record the ethnic identity of our students. They request families to choose one ethnic category by which they are officially recognised. However we often have more than one ethnic group in our family background.
We are still collecting this information so if you have not already done so, please complete the short pro forma below to help us with this task.

Have a good week,
from Jean and the team.
