Newsletter by email – If you would like to receive our newsletter by email please send a message to   penny@coroglen.school.nz .

Possible power outage – We have been notified that there may be a power outage on Tuesday the 19th of February between   9.15 and 2.15pm. In this instance we would need to close the school for the day. Our water is pumped to the surface and requires power. I have been in touch with Genesis who are trying to get this changed to after 3pm or a Saturday. Update – the lines company is looking into providing us with a generator for our water. I will update you again as soon as I know for sure.

Curriculum – Both classes have been setting goals for the term. The senior students were asked to set 4 goals. - English, Maths, Organisation and Personal. After identifying their goals they then had to think about how they would achieve them. Finally they identified how they could assess whether they had achieved them.  The next step is to share their goals with you.

Homework – The students have homework every night. The seniors have spelling homework every week. They also have maths homework that should be done daily. They are brushing up on their times tables. Many students are also doing very well on the IXL site www.IXL.com  .Students can bring current events discussion starters. This can be from local papers or radio or TV news. At times the TV news contains graphic scenes and we understand that you may prefer that your child doesn’t watch the news.
It is important that students bring their homework books every day so we can monitor the progress and add tasks. Students should be reading every night – set texts or library books.
Junior students have reading homework daily and some also have spelling words to learn.

Fundraising Team – Please find attached a Trail Ride Helpers Form – This is a major fundraiser for our school and has wonderful potential as a regular spot on the calendar. This year we have it on good authority that the weather is going to be great.
Please complete the form and return this week. If you do not fill it in we will put you in where needed. Thank you in advance from the Fundraising Team.
Please also check out the Facebook site Coroglen Charity Horse Trek.
