Newsletter, Term 2, Wk 2

Hello / Kia Ora
Thanks to parents who helped last Wednesday on our beach/foreshore study at Kuaotunu Beach. We had a great day at the beach and the trip has inspired our children in their recount writing, reports & art work which is on-going.

Elgrego
Elgrego will be at Whenuakite School next Wednesday the 18th May to present his show in from 1.40pm to both schools. We will need transport to Whenuakite School leaving Coroglen at 1.15pm. There is limited space and unfortunately no room for pre-schoolers. Gold coin donation please. Elgrego is a Magician with an anti-bullying message.

Skipping
Our children are skipping every morning and improving their fitness. Suitable shoes are needed for this and winter sports training.

120 years of Schooling at Coroglen
Don’t forget the school’s birthday is next Friday 20th May from 1.30pm. We will be having a fun sports afternoon which is open to the community. We will have more planned events throughout the year to celebrate 120 years of schooling at Coroglen. We are also planning a tribute to Miss Anderson of course, in recognition of her years of service to Coroglen School. I am sure many of you will wish to personally voice your thanks to her.

BOT meeting
Next BOT meeting is on Tuesday 17th May at 3.30pm. All nominees and others are welcome to come to this meeting to see what is involved in being on the BOT.

Elections
Voting papers will be sent out at the end of the week. Please let the school know if you have not received them by next Tuesday.

Fundraiser for Coroglen School
Thank you to all the people who brought raffle tickets for the Mothers’ Day basket. This fundraiser made $140 for our school. Raffle winner was Kylie Willigers.

Measles
The Waikato DHB has concerns about the number of measles cases occurring in the Waikato region.
They have sent information to all schools and a summary is attached to this newsletter. They are advising us to gather updated information about who has been vaccinated (MMR) but they want parents to provide verification of vaccination. This is a big job so at this stage we are just advising parents to have this information handy if it is required.

Tummy Bug
There is also a few children coming down with a tummy bug. Be aware if they are feeling nauseous or generally poorly – it can come on quite suddenly and violently!

Yummy Sticker Sheets
We have attached the yummy sticker collection sheets for those families who do not have one.

Some of the pictures of what the children found on the Kuaotunu Beach foreshore

Have a good week, from Jean and the team…
