Newsletter, Term 2, Wk 5

Hello / Kia Ora

Head lice
Please keep checking regularly for these annoying passengers. A few families are being re-infested and having to treat heads repeatedly, which I know is very frustrating. Regular brushing, tea-tree oil in the shampoo and tied up hair will help detract them.

Murphy Buses
This Friday is a Teacher Only Day for MBAS and the bus from town to Mill Creek will not be running. If your child/ren catch this bus, you will have to find alternative transport to get them to and pick them up from Mill Creek Rd in the afternoon. The little bus will not be affected and Rice will go up Mill Creek Rd to pick up the children living up there and drop them off in the afternoon.
Coroglen School is open as usual however there will be no manual for the Y7 & Y8s.

Elections
The new BOT will be announced this Friday. We are obliged to wait 5 working days from the close of elections before announcing the newly elected board members. A special newsletter will come home on Friday afternoon. Many thanks to all those who put themselves forward for nomination and to all who have voted.

Working Bee
Now is the time to get in and tidy up the gardens. Kylie has been keeping the front gardens weeded over the summer, but we are asking other parents to come down on Sunday 12th June from 10am to tackle some of the side gardens and around the playground area. Please bring spades, forks and wheel barrows. There are also a few maintenance things that need to be done around the school.

Jump Rope for Heart
Children will be bringing home an information booklet for Jump Rope for Heart. The online sponsorship page, we have decided not to do so please ignore it. Children can collect sponsorship using the table inside the booklet. Our Jump Off day is Thursday 16th June.

Winter Sports (Year 4-8)
Training for the winter sports day is in full swing. Thanks to Kerrie Macdonald and Jacinta O’Donohue, who have started taking the children for netball and rippa this term.  If anyone can come down and help with soccer and hockey it would be a big help. The Winter Sports Competition with Te Rerenga and Whenuakite Schools will be on Tuesday 7th July at Whenuakite School.

Continuing Care Visit
The senior room children will be entertaining the residents at Continuing Care on Monday 13th June at 11am.  Please fill out the transport slip at the end of the newsletter if you are able to help out. We plan to leave the school by 10.15am and will be back by lunch time.

School Reports
Written reports will be sent home towards the end of the term.

Queen’s Birthday Weekend
School will be closed on Monday 6th June to observe the Queen’s Birthday. See you all on Tuesday 7th June.

Have a good week, from Jean and the team…
