Newsletter, Term 4, Week 8

Coroglen School Newsletter
Term 4 Number 8
Wednesday 4th December 2013

Hello / Kia Ora

Walk through Christmas – Thank you to all the parents who provided transport and supervision for the Walk through Christmas on Monday.

Stationery accounts are attached to this newsletter and we would appreciate payment before the end of next week. The school is not funded by the Ministry for your child’s stationery. For those families who are not paying their bills, please remember other families who are paying their accounts are carrying the stationery debt.

Lawns donations – If we do not have a record of payment for lawns donations in our receipts book, you will also have a reminder attached to your newsletter. Once again payment would be appreciated before the end of next week, or part payment to reduce this bill for next year.

Fundraising committee – The Trail Ride has been moved to Saturday 1st March. This is a great fundraiser for the school and a wonderful family day out. We are also looking for volunteers to help with the marshalling, registering and food catering on the Saturday so mark this day on your calendar.

Tag rugby – It is great to see parents and children playing tag rugby on Monday night. We have some stars in the teams. Captured on camera are

Dante as he runs the ball up, and Carter as he rips his opposition.

End of year picnic on Tuesday 17th December. We will meet at 10am at the 309 waterhole (about 2.5kms up the 309 Rd - look for the sign).  There is a public toilet there and it is a lovely spot for a fun family day out. Don’t forget the sunscreen.

End of year concert and leavers evening will be on Monday 16th December at the school library. We will be having a community BBQ before the concert from 4.30pm, so please bring a salad and some meat to put on the BBQ. The performance will start at 5.30pm.
This is a time for the children to show off their musical talents and perform songs they have been working on this term.

We would like to acknowledge our bus driver, Rice McDonnell and Murphy Buses for providing us with a safe and reliable bus service throughout the year. We rely on this service connecting our town children out to our country school.

Pining for Christmas - Hodge Family Tree Farm in now open weekends between 10am-4pm. Give them a call on 866 3134 and get down and tag your tree now.

School starts back on Thursday 30th January 2014.

End of year Hoedown – Please support our local community this weekend and get yourself down to the end of year Hoedown at the Coroglen Hall on Saturday night. Tickets are available from the Coroglen Tavern $25 per person, or $40 for couple. There will be great music from Gentle Annie, Coroglen Big City Band and Overdrive the Rock Experience so get a group together and kick up your heels.

Library Books – Can you please ensure you have returned your child/rens library books before the end of the week for our stocktake. They can then have books issued for the school holidays.

School T-shirts – We have a few  school T-shirts which still need to come back. Can these please be returned to the school as soon as possible.

Carol singing - please find attached a list with dates for carol singing in Whitianga for those children who enjoy singing.

Enjoy your week
