Step 1: Send a direct email to the specific staff member you wish to meet with.
Step 2: Request a booking time that suits you both.
Please note: To avoid disrupting classroom learning or scheduled duties, we kindly ask that you do not drop in for spontaneous meetings during the school day.

Dear Parents, Caregivers, and Whānau,
As part of our Term 2 inquiry topic, "Investigating freshwater life and water quality in our local environment," our class is participating in the White Bait Connections programme. We are excited to share details about our upcoming field trip.
Trip Details & Logistics
Topic: Freshwater Life and Water Quality Inquiry
Field Trip Location: Waiwawa Reserve (Grassy Reserve Area)
Date: Monday, 29 June 2026
Number of Students: 27 students
Lead Teacher / Person in Charge: Karlos Bosson
External Coordinator: Shona Whittaker (White Bait Connections Coordinator)
What We Will Be Doing
Students will explore biodiversity, habitat needs, and human impacts on freshwater ecosystems.
Important Safety Note: To ensure student safety, all student learning activities, presentations, and sample observations will take place entirely up on the flat, grassy reserve area away from the riverbank.
The water's edge and the riverbank pathways are strictly out-of-bounds for students.
The White Bait Connections coordinator and selected staff will safely collect water and creature samples from the stream and bring them up to the grass workspace for students to examine using specialised equipment.
Supervision & Safety
Student safety is our top priority. The school is enforcing an enhanced supervision structure that exceeds the mandatory 1 adult to 4 students ratio required for this environment. We will also have other adults on site to increase the ratio. We will also have a dedicated hand hygiene station set up on the reserve for students to wash up after handling any natural samples.
Costs
The Friends of The Te Whanganui O Hei Marine Reserve Trust have generously funded the core delivery of this programme.
What Students Need to Bring
Appropriate, enclosed outdoor footwear suitable for walking on grass.
A warm jacket/layers (suitable for outdoor winter conditions).
A refillable water bottle.
Any personal medical supplies (e.g., inhalers), which must also be updated on the attached medical profile.
Next Steps for Parents/Caregivers
Consent Form Update: Because the students are now entirely located in a standard park/reserve setting and will not be interacting with the river feature directly, this trip safely fits the criteria for the standard Blanket Parent Caregiver Consent Form.
If you have any questions, please contact Karlos Bosson directly.
Thank you for your support in making these outdoor learning experiences possible!
Kind regards,
Karlos Bosson
Coroglen School
Dear Parents and Whānau,
We have an exciting hands-on learning experience coming up next week! On Monday 29th June, our students will be heading out on a field trip to the Waiwawa River to learn all about the delicate river ecosystem and the life it supports.
To ensure everyone stays safe, warm, and comfortable while exploring, please make sure your child comes to school with the following items:
Footwear: Gumboots or a pair of old shoes that you don't mind getting wet and muddy.
Change of Clothes: A full change of clothes packed in a plastic bag inside their school bag, just in case of any accidental splashes!
We are looking forward to a fantastic day of discovery by the river. Thank you for your support in getting the kids ready for this outdoor adventure!
Warm regards,
The Coroglen School Team
Kia ora
