Coroglen School is a small, rural primary school in Coroglen, Aotearoa, catering to students from Year 1 to Year 8. Our school has a long rich history, founded with the Gumtown settlement in the late 19th Century, and has been serving the community ever since.
We focus on creating a supportive and welcoming environment where every student can reach their full potential. Our students work hard, show social responsibility, and have a strong connection to their community. We have two classrooms with excellent teacher-student ratios and teacher aide support. Currently we have a roll of 16 students, which ensures a whānau-like atmosphere.
We care deeply about the well-being of our students. We use trauma-informed practices, follow the Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) framework, Ka Ora, Ka Ako - Healthy School Lunches Programme and have a team of caring staff to support our students. We are well supported by our wonderful Learning Support Coordinator and Resource Teacher: Learning and Behaviour service (RTLB). We ensure that every student feels safe, valued, and ready to learn.
Our curriculum emphasises environmental education, guided by the Enviroschools kaupapa. We teach our students to care for the environment and encourage them to take positive actions in their community. Through programs like Garden to Table and Trees for Survival, students learn about sustainability and conservation, gaining skills that help them protect our natural world.
Our students aim for high standards in literacy, numeracy, science, and technology. They consistently achieve their goals, showing dedication and benefiting from the effective teaching provided by our committed staff.
Community is important at Coroglen School. Our students take part in local events, environmental projects, and service activities, which help them build leadership skills and a sense of responsibility toward their community.
We use modern technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance learning. Our students learn how to use digital tools effectively, preparing them for the future. We also celebrate diversity and teach cultural awareness, ensuring that every student feels respected and included.
We are very proud of our students and are dedicated to supporting their growth. At Coroglen School, we believe in helping every student become a confident, capable, and caring member of society.
We look forward to meeting you soon.

Attention all Coroglen Cool Kids (and the weary adults who hunt for their laundry)!
Tomorrow, Friday, 20 March, we are celebrating Odd Socks Day. This is your official, golden-ticket invitation to finally give up the impossible search for "the other one" and embrace the chaos.
The Ground Rules (or Lack Thereof):
Participation is completly optional!!!: If you prefer your feet to be twins, that’s totally fine. But if you want them to be distant cousins who’ve never met, tomorrow is your day.
The Clashier, The Better: Polka dots with stripes? Neon green with muddy brown? A woolly winter sock paired with a thin summer liner? Yes.
So, dive deep into the bottom of that laundry basket and fish out those lonely socks. Let’s see who can create the most legendary foot-fiasco Coroglen has ever seen!
From the Coroglen Team.
Dear Parents and Whānau,
We are excited to have skateboarding lessons taking place at school tomorrow!
To ensure everyone can participate safely and get the most out of their session, please make sure your child wears or brings a pair of covered, sturdy shoes (such as sneakers or crocs).
We’re looking forward to a great day of rolling!
Best regards,
The School Team
Hi everyone,
We want to share a quick update to keep our school community informed and healthy. We’ve recently been made aware of a few cases of scabies within our school family.
While the word "scabies" can sound a bit daunting, please don't worry! It’s a very common skin condition—much like head lice—and it has nothing to do with personal hygiene. It’s simply a tiny itch that likes to travel, and we want to make sure it doesn't overstay its welcome.
What to Look For
Scabies is caused by tiny mites that burrow under the skin. The main things to watch out for are:
Intense itching, which often feels much worse at night.
Small, pimple-like bumps or tiny blisters.
Thin, wavy lines (burrows) on the skin, often found between fingers, on wrists, or around the waist.
What to Do
If you notice your child scratching more than usual:
Visit your GP: A doctor can quickly confirm if it’s scabies and provide a medicated cream that clears it up effectively.
Home Care: Once treatment starts, it’s a good idea to wash bedding, towels, and recently worn clothes in hot water (60°C) to make sure those pesky mites are gone for good.
Stay Home Briefly: To keep everyone comfortable, children should stay home until 24 hours after their first treatment is completed.
Our goal is simply to keep you "in the loop" so we can all stay itch-free and focused on learning! Thank you for your continued support in keeping our classrooms healthy.

Easter is just around the corner, which means it’s time for one of our favorite Coroglen traditions—the Annual Easter Basket Raffle!
This raffle is a wonderful way to bring our community together and raise funds for school projects. To make our hampers truly "egg-stra" special this year, we need your help.
???? Donations Needed
We would love it if each family could donate toward our raffle basket. Whether it’s a chocolate egg, a festive treat, or even a small Easter-themed gift, every contribution helps us build a spectacular prize.
Please drop your donations off at the school office by Tuesday 31st March.
????️ Raffle Tickets
We will be sending home raffle tickets with each student today.
Price: $2.00 per ticket.
Return: Please return all sold ticket stubs and the collected money to the office.
???? The Big Draw
The lucky winner will be announced when we draw the hamper on the last day of this school term. It’s always a high-energy end to the term for the kids, and we can’t wait to see who takes home the treats!
Thank you so much for your ongoing support of Coroglen School.
Best regards,
Vicky

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
We have an action-packed start to next week at Coroglen School, and we wanted to share some details so the students are ready for the fun.
???? Monday: A Special Olympic Guest
We are incredibly honored to welcome a very special guest speaker—a New Zealand Olympian—to the school this Monday!
They will be sharing their journey, talking to the children about perseverance and goal setting, and giving our students a chance to see what it takes to compete at the highest level. It’s going to be a truly inspiring morning for the whole school.
???? Tuesday: Skateboard Lessons
The excitement continues on Tuesday with professional skateboard lessons for the students. This is a fantastic opportunity for them to learn new skills, build confidence, and have a go in a safe, supervised environment.
